A large, elegant chess set featuring hand-carved ebony Cheltenham pieces and a 61cm Italian erable root board - crafted to the highest standards.

Handmade in Italy, the quality of lacquering is the best we have ever seen. Underneath the chessboard, the surface is mounted with felt pads to provide both protection to the chessboard and other surfaces.

To complete the set, we have added our 9.5cm Cheltenham Series chessmen in ebony, which are equally impressive, creating a large chess combination that is substantial in size and without compromise in quality.

The Cheltenham Series chess pieces are turned by hand. The four knights have been painstakingly carved, which is evident in the detailing. All the pieces have been expertly finished and polished, and are balanced well.
